Marsha Valaria Artibey Longee passed away peacefully at her home in Yakima, Washington, on April 16, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born on February 14, 1946, Marsha grew up in Hammond, Indiana, and the Chicago area. In 1976, she moved to Toppenish, Washington, where she made her home and created lasting memories with those around her.
Marsha had a vibrant personality and a wide range of interests. She loved polka music and enjoyed spending time playing bingo, bowling, cards, and camping. A talented crocheter and an exceptional cook, she was especially known for her delicious baked chicken. Her favorite television shows included Law & Order: SVU, Hell’s Kitchen, and Survivor.
She was deeply loved by many. Marsha is survived by Joseph Urbalejo; John Urbalejo (Maggie); Kimberly VanAlstine (Jeff); David McGovern; Robin Longee (stepdaughter); her sisters Jolynn Artibey and Debra Artibey; and her brother Tommy Galus.
Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Valarie Beard (David), Travis VanAlstine, Casey VanAlstine (Michael), Sherissa Urbalejo, John Urbalejo, Robert Urbalejo, Achelle Urbalejo (Johnathan), David Gaither (Chelsea), Samantha Sorenson (Josh), and Jeremy Bennet (Cassidy). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Nova, Samantha, Elizabeth, Simeon, Chloe, Wyatt, Mason, Christian, Zane, and Packer—as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Marsha was preceded in death by her mother Julia Artibey Krause; father Joseph Ryan Artibey; brother Joseph Ryan Artibey Jr.; sister Patricia; and brother Jimmy Galus.
In accordance with her wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. Marsha asked to be remembered for who she was—a woman full of life who brought joy to those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
