Marlene Lamebull-Peters
April 18, 1955- February 6, 2024
Marlene passed away Tuesday, February 6th after a lengthy battle against cancer. She fought hard with courage and determination, and exhibited grace throughout her treatments. Marlene lived life in much the same way. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend, Marlene always supported those she loved.
Born in Toppenish, Washington, Marlene graduated from Toppenish High in 1973, and went on to study at Central Washington University, Yakima Valley College, and Columbia Basin College. After meeting her husband David, Marlene moved to Kennewick, Washington, where she raised two children, Kristen and Matthew. Her family was her top priority, and her kids always felt her love and care as they grew.
Marlene was very talented. She danced at pow-wows as a member of the Gros Ventre/Assiniboine Tribe of the Fort Belknap Indian Community. She also enjoyed jewelry making and bead work, playing her guitar, learning the French language, cake decorating, cooking, visiting her family in the Yakima Valley, and traveling the world with her husband.
Marlene will always be remembered for her gentle, graceful spirit. She loved fiercely, gave freely, and touched her family in more ways than she’ll ever know. We’ll never be able to hear Fleetwood Mac, travel to Hawaii, watch The Golden Girls, or smell the ocean air without thinking of our mother. You will be missed- until we see you again.
Marlene is survived by her husband, David Peters; her children Kristen (and Stephen) Baird, and Matthew (and Brittany) Peters; her grandchildren Landon, Asher, and Sloane; her mother, Maxine Lamebull; her siblings and their spouses; David’s family; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Andrew Lamebull; her in-laws (Viola and Kenneth Peters); as well as her grandparents.
We love you, Mom.
