Mark S. McGuire passed away on April 19, 2013. He was born in Duluth, MN on April 22, 1949. He was a loving son, brother, and father, and grandfather.
He was a man of compassion - helping people and animals whenever he could. His love for animals went far beyond his household pets. He began working for the humane society as a teenager and went on to eventually become the director of the Nevada State Humane Society. Later, Mark went on to work for Code 3, a nationwide state animal rescue operation. At one point he even went undercover to obtain information in the prosecution of animal abuse cases (such as commercial circus programs and illegal trappings).
His voice was definitely another one of his assets. He went to California as a young man and sang and played in several bands throughout the L.A. area. Later he used that talent to work telethons in which monies were raised to promote the ethical treatment of animals. He sang the greeting on his voice mail and in his later years helped promote karaoke in the Yakima area. Mark had a great sense of humor and was even able to crack jokes right up until the end. MARK WILL TRULY BE MISSSED.
He is survived by his mother, Beverly A. (McGuire) Campbell; stepfather, Bob Campbell; his sister, Renee (McGuire) Howell; brother, Paul McGuire; daughters, Melody McGuire and Jessica Ann; son, Paul McGuire; grandchildren, Desiree Richon McGuire and Mark S. McGuire; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held tomorrow, April 24, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima. Those wishing to attend the burial should meet at the cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
