With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our loving husband, father, grandfather, son, nephew, brother, and cousin, Mark “Mercry” Chambers. Mark passed peacefully on October 18, 2024, after a short illness; he was 77 years old.
Born on January 19, 1947, in Yakima to Merle “Pop” and Betty Chambers, Mark graduated from Wapato High School in 1965. He proudly served in the Army National Guard and later earned his Electrical Technology degree from Perry Technical Institute in Yakima. Mark had a long and fulfilling career with the Bureau of Reclamation, from which he retired in 2003.
Known for his sense of humor and kindness, he made friends wherever he went, many of whom remained lifelong companions. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, often spending his time golfing at Mt. Adams Country Club or fishing and boating at Rimrock and Twin Lakes. His passion for music and sports was evident in his love for The Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, and Karaoke, and he spent his Sundays watching golf, bowling, NASCAR, and the Seahawks.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife and partner for over 40 years, Frances (Balzer); his sons Jake Chambers (Jennifer) and Scott Chambers (Jennifer); his daughter Kim DeHart (Mike); and his eight cherished grandchildren: Weston and Walker Osborne, Shelby, Natalie, and Izzy Chambers, and Finley, Elliott, and Maeve Chambers. He also leaves behind his two beloved cats, “Little Boy” and “Big Boy,” whose antics he loved sharing with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mike Chambers, and his nephew Marty Chambers.
Our family was not prepared to say goodbye—one never is. Our fervent hope is that he is at peace and reunited with his beloved parents and brother Mike.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be announced via social media and invitation as soon as possible. In this time of sorrow, we remember him for his laughter, love, and the lasting impact he made on all our lives.
