Born December 23,1942 In Waco, Texas. Marina Medina went home to her Heavenly father on June 25, 2013 to rest her tired body and to be reunited with her beloved son, Pablo Medina.
Marina grew up in Texas and was one of many from a large family. She met Gilbert Medina in Texas and married him in 1963 and moved through the Northwest. They made their home in Brawley, California for many years. They settled in Sunnyside, Washington in the early seventies. Marina raised 12 children. She loved all of her children: Nora Newhouse, (Justin Newhouse) Gilbert Medina, (Loraine) Phoenix, AZ, Pablo Medina (Sept. 1965 - April 6, 2013), Leticia Estudio, Maribel Charvet, (Dominic Charvet), Chris Medina, Jaimie Medina, Veronica Medina, Ruby Medina, Esmeralda Medina, Robert Medina and Yolanda Medina, (Caesar) Portland, Or.
Marina loved to cook many traditional Mexican dishes. She used to cook her famous tamales, this was a long day of festiviities. She really enjoyed this day of hard work and fun as she spent much of the day talking with her friends and family while preparing and cooking her delicious tamales. Our mother didn’t like to make a big fuss about her-self but she loved her family very much. Being family oriented her activities revolved around her children. In her younger years, she had a large garden and many fruit trees that she attended to. She loved to have her children sit around her and tell them traditional folk stories and talked about her past and what life was like for her In the past. Our mother also had another favorite pastime it was playing Bingo at St. Joseph in Yakima, Wa. There she met and made many friends. Marina enjoyed looking for that Jack Pot. There were many times she hit Bingo, she made the Jack Pot…oh how she enjoyed this time.
The family would like to take this time to thank all of our mother’s friends and family. If you would like to pay your respects you can go online at www.valleyhillsfh.com to post your fondest memories of our mother, Marina Medina.
Private graveside services were held on Tuesday July 2, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens cemetery in Sunnyside. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in care of all arrangements.
