Marilyn Jensen

September 18, 1939 — December 5, 2018

Marilyn Joyce Jensen passed away December 5, 2018 from complications due to cancer at her home in Yakima, Washington. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Lloyd (Bill) Jensen, who she met at a VFW dance; her children: David Sanderson, Carol Nava, Lisa DiMaggio, Margaret (Peggy) Grissom, Dawn Jensen, Scott Jensen, and Mark Jensen; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; her sister Gwen Zoch and brother James Archer. Marilyn was born September 18, 1939 in Geneva, Nebraska to LaVyrl and Lola Archer. The family relocated to Idaho in 1945. She graduated from high school in Nampa. Marilyn worked as an office administrator for many years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years as well as being President of the Pilot Club. She loved ballroom and square dancing and was an avid reader of books. Lloyd and Marilyn married September 21, 1994 in Torrance, California. Together they took many boat trips to Europe, Australia and the outlying islands, South America from Brazil around the tip and all the way back up to Seattle, to Alaska and Mexico before health issues slowed them down to local travel. She and her husband moved to Big Bear, California where they were members of the Youth Accountability Board, Red Cross, CARES, the Firemen’s Reserve Team, Elks and Kiwanis. They relocated to Yakima, Washington in the winter of 2005 with snow on the ground and no furniture (the moving truck got stuck on Satus Pass) so they slept on the floor in front of the fake fireplace. Soon after moving Marilyn became President of Kamiakin Kiwanis. She also volunteered at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop until she was diagnosed with cancer herself. Marilyn was a beautiful and supportive mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her Celebration of Life will be held 2pm, Saturday, December 15 at the Wesley Methodist Church (14 N. 48th Ave.) a reception will immediately follow the service. Memorial donations can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Marilyn Jensen, please visit our flower store.
