Marie Gillaspie

Marie Gillaspie went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2017, she was 92. Marie was born in Everton, Arkansas on March 9, 1925 to Homer and Opal Martin. She married Louis Stewart in 1941 and together they raised their three children: Bill, Georgie, and Ron. Marie worked in various fruit warehouses before going to work for H&H Packaging as a meat wrapper. There she met her second husband, Orval Gillaspie. They married in 1987 and made their home in Moxee until he passed in September 2003. When H&H closed their doors she went to work at “Our Country Home” as a care giver, where she continued to work until her death. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Orval Gillaspie; daughter Georgie; her parents and four brothers: Bill Martin, E.G. Martin, Leroy Martin, and Coy Martin; and a step-son Ed Gillaspie. She is survived by her two sons, Bill (Louise) Stewart of Yakima, Ron Stewart of Harrison, Arkansas; two step-daughters Jan Johnson and Carol Johnson both of Yakima; a step-son Richard Gillaspie of Yakima; three granddaughters: Kim and Kris of Yakima, and Julie Lange of Tennessee; one grandson Justin Lange of Yakima; five great grandchildren: Kourtney, Tylor, Shelby, Hunter and Luann. Over the past year, Marie was thankful for the special bond she formed with her great-granddaughter Shelby Lange. Marie’s family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Health Care Center for their exceptional care, kindness and compassion. Funeral Services will be 3:00pm, Friday, December 22, 2017 at Valley Hills Funeral Home Chapel (2600 Business Ln, Yakima).
