Marian Richards

Marian Glenn Richards, 91, passed away at the Cottage In The Meadow on July 29, 2015, with her husband by her side. Marian was born on October 7, 1923 in the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, in Yakima, to Glenn Holman and Martha P Jeffery Holman She began her career at Del Monte after graduating from high school in 1942. On May 8t, 1943 she married Henry Leuning; a union that lasted 50 years until Henry passed away from heart problems. During this time she began a new career as Supervisor for the Dietician Department at Toppenish Hospital from which she eventually retired. On August 15, 1993 she married Robert O. Dunn. Robert passed away in 2001 from prostate cancer. On March 17, 2008 she had a “pink” wedding for St. Patrick’s Day with D. Roy Richards Jr. Maybe it was his cute little dog, Genie, that won her heart. Genie’s passing started Marian’s decline in health. Marian dearly loved square dancing and wore her past president pin for Cascade Toastmaster’s Club with pride Preceding Marian in death were her parents and two husbands. She is survived by her husband, D. Roy Richards Jr, her cousin Dean Dunn and his family, especially Schuyler, whom she liked to introduce as her grandson, and her pal, Bella, Roy’s service dog. The memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2:00PM, followed by a reception at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima. The private burial will be at Zillah Cemetery In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Cottage In The Meadow, or the charity of your choice.
