Con profunda tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de María Ramos Ochoa de 89 años, nació el 8 de mayo de 1937 en La Granada, Michoacán, México y falleció el 25 de mayo de 2026 en Kennewick, Washington. Hija de Jesús Ochoa Cervantes y Abigail Mendoza Mendoza, creció en una familia numerosa, incluyendo a 11 hermanos.

Amada esposa de Francisco Ramos, juntos compartieron 72 años de matrimonio y nueve hijos. Ella enseñó a sus hijos a valorar la vida y aprovechar cada día, aun con recursos limitados. Aunque rara vez expresaba su amor con palabras, sus acciones hablaban por sí solas y eran profundamente sentidas por todos sus hijos.

Maria fue una madre dedicada que inculcó la fe y la disciplina en su hogar. Se aseguraba de que sus hijos rezaran el Rosario todas las noches lleva o truene, y después de rezar, se les permitía escuchar la radionovela “Chucho el Roto”. Pero siempre con la chancla en mano lista para usar si alguno de sus hijos se portan mal. En la década de 1970, Maria emigró a los Estados Unidos con su esposo.

Maria disfrutaba cantar, leer la Biblia diariamente y le encantaba jugar al Conquian, juego en el que, por alguna razón, siempre ganaba. Su secreto como ganaba se lo llevó con ella. Familiares y amigos se reunían durante horas para jugar con ella, creando recuerdos inolvidables.

María dejó un legado de amor, dedicación a la familia y pasión por la cocina. Sus taquitos de frijol caseros y sus enchiladas eran su especialidad, siempre preparados con mucho amor.

Fue la matriarca de su familia y siempre decía: “Mi legado son mis hijos”. La familia agradece profundamente a su nieta, Elsa Ramos, quien la cuidó de manera incondicional y permaneció a su lado hasta el final.

Le sobreviven con gran cariño su esposo Francisco; sus hijos, Javier (Irma), Salvador “Chava” (Elva), José (Martha), Ofelia (Ignacio), Jesús “Chuy” (Rocío), Marisela (Manuel), Bonifacio (Enedina) y Martín (Laura); así con numerosos nietos, bisnietos y tataranietos. Fue precedida en la muerte por su hija Antonia Ramos, y sus nietos Alejandro Ramos y Javier Larios.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el domingo 7 de junio a las 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m., con rezo de rosario a las 6:00 p.m. en Valley Hills Funeral Home en Sunnyside, WA. Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo el lunes 8 de junio a las 11:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica San José, Sunnyside, WA, seguido por el entierro cristiano en Outlook Cemetery.

Siempre será recordada por su gran corazón, su generosidad y su inmenso amor por su familia. Fue un pilar de nuestra familia, una mujer de profunda fe y devoción a la Virgen de Guadalupe, cuyo espíritu generoso vivirá siempre en nuestros recuerdos.

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of María Ramos Ochoa at the age of 89. She was born on May 8, 1937, in La Granada, Michoacán, Mexico, and passed away on May 25, 2026, in Kennewick, Washington. She was the daughter of Jesús Ochoa Cervantes and Abigail Mendoza Mendoza and grew up in a large family with 11 siblings.

Beloved wife of Francisco Ramos, together they shared 72 years of marriage and raised nine children. She taught her children to value life and make the most of every day, even with limited resources. Although she rarely expressed her love in words, her actions spoke for themselves and were deeply felt by all her children.

Maria was a devoted mother who instilled faith and discipline in her home. She made sure her children prayed the Rosary every night, rain or shine, and after praying, they were allowed to listen to the radio drama “Chucho el Roto.” But she always had her Chancla in hand, ready to use it if any of her children misbehaved. In the 1970s, Maria emigrated to the United States with her husband.

Maria enjoyed singing, reading the Bible daily and loved playing Conquian, for some reason always won—though she took that secret with her. Family and friends would gather for hours to play with her, creating unforgettable memories.

She left a legacy of love, dedication to family, and a passion for cooking. Her homemade bean taquitos and enchiladas were her specialty, always prepared with lots of love.

She was the matriarch of her family and often said, “My legacy is my children.” The family is deeply grateful to her granddaughter, Elsa Ramos, who cared for her unconditionally and remained by her side until the end.

She is lovingly survived by her husband Francisco; her children Javier (Irma), Salvador “Chava” (Elva), José (Martha), Ofelia (Ignacio), Jesús “Chuy” (Rocío), Marisela (Manuel), Bonifacio (Enedina), and Martín (Laura); as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Antonia Ramos, and her grandsons Alejandro Ramos and Javier Larios.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 7, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the rosary at 6:00 p.m., at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA. Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 8, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, WA, followed by Christian burial at Outlook Cemetery.

She will always be remembered for her big heart, generosity, and immense love for her family. She was a pillar of our family, a woman of deep faith and devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, whose generous spirit will live on in our memories.
