Maria Perez

November 1, 1931 — March 11, 2025

Maria Angelina Perez November 1st, 1931- March 11, 2025 It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Maria Angelina Perez on the day of March 11th, 2025 at the age of 93. Passing away peacefully and surrounded by her children, Angelina was allowed to meet our heavenly Father while living the remainder of her life in Kennewick Washington at Solstice Senior Living. Born in Edinburg Texas on November 1st, 1931 to Francisco Moreno and Esperanza Lerma, Angie lived the majority of her life in Granger Washington after arriving there in 1956. She married her military husband, Luciano Perez on May 22, 1956. The pair raised their six children Norma, Neda, Joseph, Richard, Yvette and Michael in Granger where they established a strong community presence and bright future for their family. Angelina or Angie as she was affectionately known, received her early education in Edinburg Texas. At the age of 16, she worked as a nurse at Edinburg General Hospital. Upon arriving in Washington, she began work as a nurse at Toppenish Memorial Hospital. She also worked alongside her husband in farm labor. She went on to fill different positions at El Ranchito and, the Granger Daycare before being hired as a bank teller at Old National Bank (US Bank). She would go on to retire as the bank Manager after 27 years of faithful service. Angelina took part in many community activities. She was an active member of the Granger Rotary Club, and served on the Washington State Counsel to represent Central Washington per the request of then Governor Daniel Evans. In this appointment, she held a strong political presence for women’s rights. She would go on to expand her stance for her fellow community members at a government level in voicing her opinion on voting, pre and post birthing care as well as fair wages for both employees and employers. Her faith never faltered. She attended the Catholic Church in Granger which was St. Patrick’s at that time and is now Our Lady of Guadalupe. She also assisted in numerous fund-raising church events. Mom willingly shared her culinary skills and was known among her children and friends for her tamales. With her kind and warm personality, Angie reaped the reward by having the absolute best in neighbors and friends. She always asked how family members were doing. Her sincere comment would always be, “As long as they’re okay, that’s all that matters to me”. As an avid sports fan, she attended her children’s sporting events and thoroughly enjoyed watching both professional football and basketball. Initially a Seahawks fan, she would eventually follow the Kansas City Chiefs and cheered them on to two Super Bowl victories with her favorite player being Patrick Mahomes. Angelina is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Luciano Perez, siblings, Irma Sanchez, Frank Moreno, Imelda Moreno, Celia Espinoza, and Alicia Marroquin. She is survived by her sisters Elizabeth Diaz, Rachel Arevalo and brothers Reuben Valdez and Alex Moreno, her six children Norma Eliason, husband Doug, Neda Arevalo, husband Gilbert, Joseph Perez, wife Susan, Richard Perez, wife Linda, Yvette Hake, husband Marc, and Michael Perez, wife Tabitha, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
