Maria Gonzalez

Maria B. Gonzalez, 83, of Wapato, reunited with the love of her life on July 7, 2019, surrounded by family and friends. Maria was born on May 2, 1936, in Quemado, Texas. Daughter of Francisco Acosta and Dora Tovar. She was raised by her grandparents, Francisco and Guadalupe Tovar. Maria and Gilbert met in Wapato and later married on September 19, 1957 and together raised three children, Gilbert Jr, Maria Elena, and Alfonso.   Maria had a strong work ethic. She worked at Bailey’s Inc., hop fields and farmed alongside her husband until retirement. Her hobbies included cooking, canning, shopping, yard sales, word search puzzles, playing Bingo, gardening, and sewing. Maria was loving, caring, strong, funny, humble, loyal, supportive, and on occasions, stubborn.   Maria loved her family fiercely when it came to her grandchildren and great grand children Nikki, Lb, Steven, Aubrey and Izabella. She also came to love Yesenia and Jamarr like her own.   Maria is survived by her children, Gilbert Jr. (Esther), Maria Elena, and Alfonso Gonzalez. Grandchildren, Nichole, Gilbert III aka Lb, Steven (Yesenia). Great grandchildren, Aubrey and Izabella. Siblings, Nayo Trevino, Cruz Cavazos, San Juanita Banuelos, and Vicente Trevino Jr.   Preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Gonzalez Sr. Parents, Francisco Acosta and Dora Tovar. Siblings, Lupe Tovar, Delia Trevino, Maria Banuelos. Best friend, Cathy Corpuz.   The viewing will be from 5-6 pm at Valley Hills in Wapato with the rosary following  from 6-7pm on Thursday, July 11, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 pm on Friday, July 12, 2019 at St. Peter Claver Church in Wapato.
