Maria “Angela” Flores, age 62, loving mother of three and devoted wife to husband, Mario Flores, passed away surrounded by her family on August 25th, 2026, after a short but tragic battle with cancer. Angela was diagnosed just twelve days before her passing, leaving her family in deep shock and heartbreak.
Born May 10th, 1964, in Grandview to parents Jose and Aurora Escobar, Angela grew up in a large, close-knit family alongside five siblings, many cousins, and a wide circle of aunts and uncles. She graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1982.
Angela and Mario met at church in 1983 where they formed a friendship and began dating in 1984. The two married only three months later in January 1985, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, loyalty, and family. Together they raised their three children, where Angela found her passion in being a homemaker. She was a devoted mother — a protector, a confidant, and a constant source of comfort. Her love only deepened as her family grew, welcoming four grandchildren who became the light of her life.
Angela cherished long drives with Mario, especially in the rain while he sang to her. She adored his voice. She loved visiting the beach, talking on the phone with her sisters and aunts, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her warmth, her presence, and her gentle spirit will be missed beyond measure.
Angela is survived by her Father Jose Luis Escobar, husband of 41 years, Mario; her children, Sonia Magaña and husband Jorge Magaña, Joshua Flores and partner Karina Ramos, and Samantha Flores and husband Trajen Frank. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Emilio Flores, Alysia Flores, Andi Frank, and Citlaly Magaña.
She is proceeded in death by her mother, Aurora Escobar, Brother Nick Escobar and Niece Stephanie Deleon.
A viewing will be held Thursday, September 3rd, 2026, at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside from 4 PM to 8 PM. Funeral services will follow on Friday, September 4th, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sunnyside at 11 AM.
