Maria Campos

Obituary Maria Caritina Campos, also known as Ama or Cari to her family and friends, passed away on December 15, 2015. The daughter of Belen Jasso and Nieves Rocha, she was born on September 12, 1948 in La Sarteneja, Cuerámaro, Guanajuato. She married the love of her life 49 years ago, Jose Luz Campos II, on December 6, 1966 in Cuerámaro. They moved to Sunnyside in 1977 to raise their family. Ama enjoyed her role as a active choir member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Grandview. She could be found at her happiest when surrounded by family, cooking traditional Mexican dishes, and always preparing twice as much as was needed. She was quick to smile, to laugh, and known for shedding a quick tear whenever she gave a warm hug. She loved Spanish music, dancing, family birthdays, and tending to her pets. If you were visiting her and the TV was on, you were sure to see Sabado Gigante, her novelas and more recently, the Home Shopping Network. Ama loved her yearly return to Mexico where her and Apa celebrated their anniversary, Día De La Virgen, and Las Calles Compuestas. Maria is survived by her husband Jose Luz Campos II; children Delfino Campos (Sylvia), Rosa Cortesi (Dr. Walter Foto), Josefina Rogers (Doug), Petra Armendariz (Jesse), Jose Luz Campos III (Nora), Mario Campos, Victor Campos and Olivia Campos, and seventeen grandchildren. Viewing and visitation will be held 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015 with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview followed by graveside services at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sunnyside. A reception will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview following graveside services.
