Margarita Castillo

Margarita Castillo passed away on December 30th, 2020 in Moses Lake, WA. She was born on August 2nd, 1928 in Pflugerville, TX to the late Hipolito and Gertrudis Moreno. Maggie was the eldest of ten siblings. She picked cotton in Texas for a short time and worked in the beets in Montana. She moved to Wapato, WA in 1943 with her family where she worked in the hops, beets, and packed apples at Summer Ranch. Margarita was married Cesario Castillo in 1958 in Wapato, WA and during that time had their first child. In the 1960’s, they moved to Warden, WA where they had three remaining children and Maggie worked at Warden Daycare Center, and Skone & Conners. Maggie loved to sew her own dresses and children’s clothing. She baked, quilted, crocheted, canned, and did embroidery. Maggie had nothing but unconditional love for her family and her kitchen was always open no matter who popped in to visit or what time. She is survived by her siblings Helen, Tony, Hipolito Jr., Victor, Victoria, Lupe, Matilda, Sergio, her four children Frances Castillo, MaryAnn (Gregory) Spivey, Gertrudis (Martin) Abarca, Cesario Jr. (Maria) Castillo, her 13 grandchildren, 14, great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Her brother Julian Moreno passed in 1991. A celebration of life will be held Thursday January 7th, 2021 at Valley Hills in Wapato, WA. The viewing will be 9-11 A.M. & Mass from 11-11:30 A.M. The burial will occur at Reservation Community Memorial Park at Noon. Masks are required as well as social distancing for all events. Special thanks to Christina, Maria, Midge, Dora, Jared, & Aberdean who cared for Maggie for her last few years.
