Margaret Melcher

On Thursday September 26th, 2019, Margaret Yvonne Hass Melcher, a loving wife and a mother of one, passed away at the age of 78. Margaret was born on August 13th, 1941, to Howard and Yvonne Hass. She and her two sisters grew up in the Yakima Valley. She worked for the Zillah School District for many years. She married Lawrence Donald Melcher in 1974. They had one daughter, Marilyn who they raised in Zillah. In Zillah everyone knew Margaret to be one of the happiest people, she always filled a room with laughter and left with new friends every time. If you ever sat down next to her, stranger or friend, she would have stories to tell and could talk until it was time to go. Margaret was very found of Mickey Mouse, if it had any hint of Mickey on it, she just had to have it. Margaret loved to help in her small town of Zillah, and she adored all her students from school, she was so proud of them and who they became and made sure to tell whoever would listen. Margaret’s love for her family was felt for miles around. She always made sure that she had an ear for everyone. She thought of everyone with personalized homemade cards and gifts for every occasion. Her favorite moments where trips to a warm Arizona Christmas with her grandchildren and daughter, trips across the pass to see her nieces for lunch, and anywhere that the family gathered. Margaret was an all-around happy person, she loved bright colors, especially red, huge smiley faces, and had the most contagious laugh. Margaret was survived by, her husband Lawrence Donald, daughter Marilyn, her two grandchildren Anna and Madelyn, her sister Audrey, cousins, nieces and nephews. She preceded by her parents and her sister Barbara. A viewing will be from 12pm to 5pm on October 2nd. The funeral service will be held at 1pm on October 3rd. Both at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. There will be a luncheon one hour after the internment at Buena Grange. If you would like, wear your brightest happiest colors in honor of Margaret.
