Margaret Jordan

July 8, 1918 — May 31, 2015

Margaret was born July 8, 1918 to Iona (Ralph) and Oscar Morford in Moxee and passed away Sunday morning on May 31, 2015 at the age of 96. She grew up with her sister Norma when times were tough and would tell us stories of the times she spent with her grandmother. After graduating from Moxee High School in 1938, she married Matthew Sybouts in April 1939. Together, they settled in Zillah raising hops, pears, and their two daughters, Carol and Donna. Matthew passed away in 1968 after 29 years of marriage and eight years later she met through her hairdresser, Arthur “Jenks” Jordan. Jenks and Margaret shared their second half of life, with her catching more fish than him and taking their day trips all around the valley. Margaret will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She possessed grace, had a wicked sense of humor, and enjoyed her garden. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed hearing and seeing the activities they were involved in. She was so glad that her great grandchildren were born while she could “still stand and hold them”. Margaret is the last of our family’s generation that knew what it meant to pick hops by hand and every year at harvest, we would make sure that she received a vine. She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Don) Marsh of Zillah and Donna (John) Wells of Vancouver. Jenk’s children, Rusty (Debbie) Jordan, JoAnn (Lynn) Jordan, Nancy (Joe) Miguel, and Chuck (Kay) Jordan. Grandchildren: Donnita Marsh and Heather (Chris) Warford of Zillah, Kenneth (Tamra) Marsh of Granger, and Michael Jordan of Yakima. Great-grandchildren: Kaitlin Koppinger, Ty Marsh, Lane Marsh, Chance Marsh, Kyler Marsh, and Allie Warford. Her sister Norma’s daughters JoAnn (Doug) Strader and Linda (Dennis) Copeland. Her friend of many years, Lois Rabie and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to thank the staff at Toppenish Nursing and Rehab for their care and compassion of Margaret these last few weeks. Graveside services will held at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Moxee, Wa. Valley Hill Funeral Home in Zillah has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
