Margaret Gerhardt

Margaret Vivian Gerhardt, 87, of Yakima passed away on September 12, 2013 at Good Samaritan Healthcare Center. She was born on March 23, 1926 to Joseph and Margaret (Shaff) Schmidt in Odense, ND. Margaret met Matt Gerhardt in Odense and they got married on October 19, 1948. She moved to the Yakima area in 1961 and retired from Snokist Cannery after working there for over 20 years. She loved to crochet and do needlework and she became a sno-bird with her husband, Matt, and traveled to Arizona every winter. She is now reunited with Dad who died on May 19, 2013. Margaret is survived by her son, Rodney (Dorothy) Gerhardt of Lancaster, CA; daughters, Dorothy (Ken) Frenzel of Yakima, Diane (Ralph) Baumgarten of Naches, and Debbie (Scott) Morse of Thorp; brothers, Joe (Emily) Schmidt of Bismarck, ND and Tony Schmidt of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Michelle, Adrienne, Derek, Renae, Melissa and Mathew; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Schmidt; sisters, Mary Schantz, Rose Hoffman, Barbara Hoffman, Josephine Vogel and Celestine Grossman; brothers, Jack Schmidt and Nick Schmidt; and one grandson, Ryan Morse. The family would like to give special thanks to Diana on Team 3 at Good Samaritan for her tender caring of Mom. At Mom’s request, no services will be held.
