Margaret Davison

June 5, 1942 — December 19, 2019

Long time Yakima Valley resident, Margaret L. (Ermey) Davison passed away with family at her side in Poulsbo WA on December 19, 2019. Margaret was born June 5, 1942 in Toppenish WA to Eileen C. (Duling) and E. Clyde Ermey. Margaret spent her childhood with her family on the Ermey homestead located on Orchardvale Road in rural Zillah. She learned from an early age on the family farm that hard work and strong family were a virtue and a treasure. Growing up in a close knit family with 5 siblings and numerous cousins helped Margaret become a generous person who was always welcoming and ready to give a helping hand. Margaret attended Zillah schools her whole life but finished her high school years at St. Joseph’s Academy in Yakima where she graduated in 1960. She married the love of her life, James R. Davison in Seattle on September 21, 1963. They made their first home in Massachusetts where Jim was stationed in the Air Force. Margaret worked many different jobs during her adult life, collected antiques, and was the family historian. Margaret and Jim found their dream home, a large historical residence in Toppenish, and made it “The Castle”; in it Margaret lived out her main vocation which was in providing a home for kids. Besides her own children she and Jim worked as foster parents through Casey Family Programs and provided a home for about 50 children over their decades of service; two of those kids were ultimately adopted by Margaret and Jim. Following Jim’s death, Margaret went to live with her son Michael. She spent her final years in a live-in memory care facility. Margaret is survived by her children, Kimberly (Ray) Elisabeth City NC, Robert (Audrey) Oak Harbor WA, Michael (Annette) Lake Stevens WA, Steven (Erin) Bremerton WA, and Isaiah of Yakima; grandchildren - Nicole, Joslyn, Steven, Matthew, Timothy, Lauren, James, Sally, Stephanie, Emily, Kyle, and Katherine; and 8 great-grandchildren. Her brother Fred and her sisters Kathleen, Donna, and Roberta. Margaret was proceeded in death by her husband James, her parents Clyde and Eileen, and her sister Patricia. Funeral will be July 24th, 11:00AM at Resurrection Catholic Church in Zillah WA, this will be preceded by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30.
