Margaret Brown

December 9, 1922 — May 4, 2019

Margaret Jane Brown entered into rest on May 4, 2019 at Good Samaritan in Yakima, Washington. She was born December 9, 1922 in Wapato, Washington to Harley and Anna (Sener) Brown. She was the youngest of twelve children. Margaret graduated from Wapato High School. She then attended Northwest Bible College in Seattle, Washington. After graduating from Northwest Bible College she co-pastored a small church in Riggins, Idaho with a young lady she knew from her college days. She moved back to Seattle where she met the Reverend & Mrs. Raymond Busby. This Godly couple took Margaret under their wings. They encouraged her to go with them to Indonesia. So, Margaret agreed, feeling this was God's will for her life. When the Busbys and Margaret sailed to Indonesia, World War II was coming to an end. When they reached Australia, they were detained for months because of the unstable post war conditions in Indonesia. Over the next 40 plus years Margaret was a missionary to the people of Indonesia. She became fluent in the language and wore out her Indonesian Bible. She and her co-worker Marcella Dorff, traveled throughout Indonesia preaching and teaching. These two American young women planned and built an Assembly of God Bible School. Thanksgivings, Fourth of July and Christmas Holidays were spent with fellow American missionaries. These shared celebrations included Assembly of God people as well as members of other Christian denominations. About every 4 years, Margaret would return home to the states for about a year. This rest period was full of hundreds of miles of driving throughout the Pacific Northwest. The destinations were Assembly of God churches large and small. Here she told of the work life and teaching in Indonesia. When she retired to Yakima, her home church, Central Assembly of God named her minister of visitation. She enjoyed this new job as well. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Anna (Sener) Brown. Her sibling, infant Delmar Brown, Harold Brown, Clare Brown, Kenneth Brown, Delma Craig, Lucille Erickson, Bill Brown, Eldon Brown, Alice Burke, and Arlene Poole. She is survived by one sister Doris Olsen of Mesa, Arizona. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. Thank you to Margaret's pastors, caregivers at Good Samaritan, and the Heartlinks Staff.
