In the early morning of Nov. 8, 2015, at Yakima Regional (St. Elizabeth) Hospital in Yakima, Margaret Evelyn Brons’ story ended where it began 93 years ago on Sept. 24, 1922. Her parents were Gabriel Loranz and Rose Keller of Yakima. She was their second of seven children.Margaret resided in Outlook with her husband of 65 years, Floyd Leroy Brons, until Floyd’s death in 2010. She continued to live on their farm with her oldest son and daughter-in-law until her time of death. She attended Cottonwood grade school and Wide Hollow junior high school. She graduated in 1942 from Cowiche high school. Margaret met Floyd at a dance in the summer of 1943 at the Aurora dance hall in Yakima. Floyd was then drafted on May 25, 1944 and they married the following fall on Nov. 27, 1944. She worked at Newberry’s department store during Floyd’s service in World War II. She was a loving wife and the two enjoyed playfully teasing each other. They owned a farm and farmed a variety of crops, but the most successful was Concord grapes. They worked tirelessly together to make it successful and provide for their children. She was the mother of four; Leon Floyd, Stephen Paul, Linda Kay and Peggy Jo. She cherished her role as mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and even great-great-grandmother. She loved to sew and craft and she was always making items for her loved ones, in particular baby quilts. She enjoyed many other hobbies including; gardening, reading, and cross-words. Margaret was a member of the Happy Campers RV club and the Junior Indelook club where she cherished the friendships she developed through the years.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Leon (Gayle) of Outlook and Steve (Bonnie) of Bonney Lake; and daughters, Linda (Jim) McKeirnan and Peggy (Steve) Herres of Pomeroy. She is also survived by her sisters; Marie St. George, Anne Evans and Cecilia Hunt; her grandchildren, Scott, Kim (Jeff) Pfaff and Leanne (Ken) Jones; Gwen, Craig (Tracie) and Doug (Akiko) Brons; Shane (Stephanie), Mike (Meghan), Kelly (Annie), Chris (Rainey), Blaine and Blair McKeirnan; Ryan (Heather), Tom (Danielle) and Nick (Piper) Herres. She is also survived by 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; parents, Gabriel and Rose Loranz; brothers, Lambert (Rose), Johnny (Mickey) and Gabriel Jr.
Services will be on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside, with a reception to follow at Valley Hills Funeral Home.
