Marcelo Anthony Benson, “Iks Iks Spiliyay,” 27, was born in Toppenish, Washington, on December 16, 1996, to Roger Benson Sr. and Desiree Howard. He is an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. Marcelo began his journey on November 28, 2024, marked by resilience, courage, and a caring spirit that touched the lives of many. Marcelo experienced many challenges in life, including navigating foster care, prison, and other systems, which shaped his strength in character. He had an incredible ability to extend kindness, compassion, and an inquisitive nature. He was surrounded by a loving circle of family and friends who cherished his smile, humor, and boundless heart. He always offered a listening ear, an encouraging word, or simply being present to make everyone feel seen and valued. His time here on earth was short, but his love and words will live on in the hearts of those who have loved him for as long as they will live. He found joy in listening to music like Lil Baby Through it All and other artists like King Von, Lucas Coly, and Lil Durk. Moreover, he enjoyed cruising and spending time with family and friends. Marcelo is survived by his family and friends: His father, Roger Benson Sr.; Foster/ kinship parents, including Janey Crowder; his paternal grandma, Nadine Benson, and maternal grandpa, Dennis Howard his siblings, Deangelo Benson, Zekia Benson, and Essence Benson. Also, he considered Nikita his daughter. Marcelo was preceded in death by his mother Desiree Howard his aunt Raquel Howard; His siblings Roger Benson Jr., Michael Cloud.
