Lynda Wertenberger obituary
Lynda Lea Wertenberger, 79, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on December 1, 1946 in Tacoma, WA to Lawrence and Marion Paul.
The family moved to Yakima when she was 11 years old and Lynda graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1965.
Lynda married the love of her life, Ken, in 1967 and they made their home in Wapato, where they raised their three children and ran their ranch together, growing the best red delicious apples in the valley along with other apples, pears, and peaches.
Lynda was known for her chicken and pasta, which no one can seem to replicate. Everyone loved her goulash and she always made enough to feed an army.
Music shaped Lynda’s life. Everything came through music: her savior Jesus, her love for the Word, and her family. Everyone knew how much music meant to her; her family, friends, and people she didn’t even know. If she was asked to sing somewhere, there was never a no, it was always a yes.
Lynda was very involved in her church, singing and leading worship, Bible Study Fellowship, and gathering with friends. Every morning she sat with her Bible and a cup of coffee to spend time with Jesus.
Ken and Lynda enjoyed taking trips to the Oregon Coast with Uncle Kenny and her beloved Aunt Susan who was more like a sister to her.
Lynda loved doting on her grandchildren. She loved to shop for them and attend their events as they grew older.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Melva Dilger.
Lynda is survived by her beloved husband, Ken Wertenberger; children Jeff (Jane) Wertenberger, Brad (Angie) Wertenberger, Emilie (Rocky) Clayton; grandchildren Ryan, Allison, Aaron, Sarah, Jacob, Anna, Alex, and Lucas; her aunt Susan (Kenny) Boucher; nephew Michael Todd Dilger; and many bonus grands.
