Lydia Cassaway passed away on January 8th, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones in Kennewick, Washington peacefully in her home. She was born in Toppenish, Washington on July 3rd, 1949 to Gregorita and William Maes Sr. She grew up in Wapato, Washington where she enjoyed being a CNA and later was a bus driver for EPIC students. Lydia was a prayer warrior and a faithful woman of God. She was an active member of United Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her four children; Esther Delcomte, Timothy Sanchez, George Sanchez, and Norma Silva; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, five siblings; William Maes, Moses Maes, Priscilla Flores, Frances Maes, Rosie Maes, and Martha Garcia, and a great fellowship of brothers and sisters.
She enjoyed chasing her grandchildren, fishing, camping and being outdoors, baking and making her peanut brittle and fry bread for her family. Whenever there was a chance for her to travel, she took it and enjoyed every moment of it.
She will be remembered for her funny personality and comforting presence. Her smile was always contagious and lit up the room when she walked in. She always welcomed you into her home with opened arms and lended a helping hand where it was needed. Her love was unconditional to all those who crossed her path. May she live always in our hearts and memories.
