Lorrie Ann Whitney, 56, passed away in Yakima, Wa on April 6, 2019 after her brave battle against cancer. She was born in Prosser, Wa on January 5, 1963 to parents Bill J. Hodges and L’Dawn Roberts.
Lorrie graduated from Sunnyside High School. She would then enter the U.S. Air Force and move to Michigan. On October 30, 1987 she would marry her love James A. Whitney. Lorrie started a career at the Sunnyside Post Office, and would retire from the Zillah Post Office on February 28, 2019.
The couple enjoyed family vacations to the beach, Disneyland and visiting light houses. Her hobbies included reading books, Disney puzzles, crafting and baking with her beloved granddaughter Kianna and baking for the Post Office gang in Zillah, WA. She very much enjoyed and appreciated her bosses, Steve and Sam as well as her work family at the Post Office. Raised as an only child, Lorrie had 4 life long friends; Susanne, Kara, Deana and Monica who were always there for her.
Preceding Lorrie in death are her Mother, Father and Grandma B.
Lorrie is survived by her loving husband, James; their children, Christina Whitney (Mark Joyce), and Jonathan Whitney (Keirsten Sagar); and granddaughters, Kianna and Daisy. She leaves behind a large extended family, many cousins, Aunts, Uncles, and friends who will miss her dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor the memory of Lorrie on Sunday, May 19th, 2019 at the River Ridge Golf Course Restaurant in Selah, Wa from 1:30 - 3:30 P.M.
