Loretta Cora (Bryant) Tayon of Grandview Washington passed away on January 27, 2014 in Grandview at the age of 97.
Loretta was born on July 26, 1916 in St. Louis Missouri. She married Woodrow (Woody) J. Tayon in St. Louis in 1935 and they had three sons. In 1943 Woody went to work in the shipyards in San Francisco during the 2nd world War and Loretta and the children followed Woody to San Francisco where the family resided until the end of the war in 1945.
From there they migrated to Nevada and finally settled in Grandview Washington where they raised their children. Loretta was a loving mother and wife to Woody until he passed away in 1969. She took care of the household needs of her family while Woody worked to support the family. Loretta never remarried, but was self sufficient until her health failed her and she came to live in Tayon’s Adult Family Home, where she found loving care from Shannon Stewart, her step grand daughter, and her staff of loving caregivers.
Loretta was preceded in death not only by her husband but two of her sons, Vincent Tayon of Spokane Washington and Donald Tayon of Sunnyside Washington and on grandson, Philip Tayon. Surviviors include on son, Joe (Opal) Tayon of Grandview Washington, grandchildren: Kathy Tayon Sharley of Isaquah, Randy Tayon of Lynwood, Heath Tayon of Stanwood, Debbie Tayon of Spokane, and eight great grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her daughter in-law, Patsy Tayon, and one of her closest friends, Pat Rounds of Sunnyside who, like Patsy, were like the daughters she never had. Because Loretta has outlived most of her friends and all but a few of her immediate family, there will be no services.
