Lois Evelyn Jollie, age 76, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on May 27, 2015 at Living Care Health Center with her family by her side. Lois was born in Yakima, WA on August 1, 1938 to James and Dorothy Thompson. Lois was raised in Moxee, WA attending elementary school through 8th grade. She moved to Grandview, WA and lived with her sister Maxine and her family to attend high school, and graduated from Grandview High School. After graduation she went to work for Webb Tractor in Yakima. On May 13, 1961 she married Edward (Mick) Jollie in Yakima where they resided and raised their family. During this time she went to work for Carpet Masters Carpet One where she was a bookkeeper and retired after 35 years. Lois had a gift for sewing, crocheting, making dolls and doing different kinds of crafts. She “loved” taking pictures, family reunions and going to dances in Prosser, Grandview and the Harmon Center in Yakima. She was a friend to all and touched the lives of everyone who came in contact with her. She had the smile of an angel, laughed until she cried and always had a Kleenex in her pocket, loved unconditionally and always gave to others. Most of all she loved her grandchildren; they were the light of her life. She was so proud of them and she never missed an event they were involved in. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Hazel Cavin and brother Ronald Thompson. She is survived by her husband Edward, daughters Amy (Greg) Wingerter, Debbie McKinley and Diane Strock, all of Yakima; one son, Kevin Thompson of Montesano, WA; grandchildren Erinn and Allison Wingerter, Alexandria Doucette, all of Yakima, Travis Strock of Edmonds, WA and Austin Strock of LaGrande, OR; two sisters, Maxine (Norman) Mohar and Janice (Dan) Gefre; six Thompson brothers, Jimmy (Vonnie), Larry (Kay), Jack, George (Sue), Donald (Norma) and Rick (Pam). Viewing will be on Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m. with the funeral being held on Wednesday at 10 a.m., both at Valley Hills Funeral Home, 2600 Business Lane, Yakima, WA 98901. Burial will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Celebration of Lois’ life will be held at the funeral home after the burial services.
