Lloyd Johnson died on December 22, 2025, in Yakima, Washington. He was born on
March 4, 1932, in Calipatria, CA.
Lloyd died as he lived, with a laugh and a joke, and even in extreme pain, he could
crack a joke. He mostly made jokes about himself. He only had good words to say
about others. He was a disabled veteran, having served in the US Navy and loved
telling crazy Navy stories.
He was a pilot of small planes and one of his early jobs was that of flying prisoners to
different prisons. Most of his working life was at Safeway grocery stores.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and had many friends. With
his friends and faith, he lived a life of which many might have given up.
He is preceded in death by his wife, and the love of his life, Kathy (McCarthy). He
wore his and her wedding bands till the day he died, such was his love for her.
Fun fact, Lloyd loved to ride on roller coasters and often took daughter Carla with him.
However, he could not ride a Farris Wheel without feeling sick.
He is survived by his daughter, Carla Tanovitz (Mike), Grandson, Travis Tanovitz
(Allyse), and Great Grandsons Jack and Frank Tanovitz, many loving friends and his
faithful dog, Bella.
A memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church on 8 January,
2026, at 10:00 AM.
Please make memorial gifts to Wesley United Methodist Church.
