Lewis Sheeley

Lewis W. “Lou” Sheeley, 84, died on November 10, 2014 at Covenant House, in Yakima. He was born to Leon B. Sheeley Sr., and Sylvia B (Wilder) Sheeley in Everett, WA on December 14, 1929, moving to Yakima when he was 1 year of age. Lewis went through the Yakima educational system, graduating from Yakima Senior High School in 1948. He joined the US Navy in 1948 and attended the US Naval Conservatory of Music in Washington DC. Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1952 he went to work in the automotive parts and sales business as a salesman, a job he held his entire life, retiring in 1997. He married Evelyn Evans, of Yakima, in January of 1954 and had 2 lovely children, Evan and Marla. Lou was well known in the Yakima area for his musical abilities and the leading of a dance orchestra from 1960-1981, known as the Lou Sheeley Orchestra. He made many friends during this time and often spoke of the nice people that he used to play for. Lou is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Evelyn, a son, Evan L (Kelly) Sheeley, a daughter Marla K (Ken) Gunn, and granddaughters Lindsay and Kelsey Christianson, and Erin Sheeley, as well as 4 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.. Lou is also survived by his brother inlaw Jim (Donna) Evans, and sister in law, Ruth Sheeley, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, and 2 brothers, Leon Jr. and Harvey Sheeley. At Lou’s request, there will be no services. Private burial will be at the Tahoma Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project. Valley Hills Funeral Home is caring for the family.
