Lester “Bob” George, 85, of Selah, peacefully passed away at the Cottage In The Meadow on March 27, 2015. He was born in Selah, WA to Lester & Vera George on December 10, 1929. He grew up in Selah and attended the local schools. He grew up helping at the family’s business, George’s Boat Landing, now called Silver Beach. He spent the years at Rimrock Lake and in the surrounding mountains. During the war, at age 14, he drove the produce trucks from Yakima to Seattle. He later joined the Army, where he served his country with pride until his honorable discharge.
On August 2, 1968 he married Kay, and they enjoyed many years together. To this marriage were born 2 children, Lester Jr. and Virginia. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and the many family camping trips. He also enjoyed traveling with Kay, and occasionally Kaytlin, their granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Kay, and their children, Lester Jr. and Virginia Karhn and granddaughter, Kaytlin, and 5 step grandchildren, Sierra and Knut Fitzsimmons, Tess and Ruby McBride, and Holly Ray and 2 great granddaughters, Wylee and Emma.
A celebration of life is pending and will be held in the mountains at a later date that will be announced. The family wishes to thank Memorial Hospice and the staff at The Cottage In The Meadow for their compassionate care of Bob & the family. Valley Hills Funeral Home is caring for the family.
