Leroy Fletcher

November 17, 1934 — December 20, 2018

LeRoy W. Fletcher passed away December 20th peacefully at his home surrounded by family in Zillah, WA. LeRoy is the son of Worth E and Cleatis Bundy-Fletcher born Nov 17th, 1934 in Shoshone, Idaho. LeRoy graduated from Kimberly High School and attended the University of Idaho receiving Chemical Engineering degree in 1958 , having worked as a fry cook at The Nobby Inn to put himself through school. LeRoy married Beverly Renfrew Jan 5th 1958, with who he had three of his children. He then started his long climb up the corporate ladder at Longview Fiber in Longview, WA. LeRoy worked for many companies in his carrier advancing as the opportunities presented themselves. These included Precision Cast Parts, Welch Grape juice, Kerns foods, Lamb Weston in Hermiston as plant manager and Tree Top in Selah as Executive Vice President. LeRoy was extremely intelligent and a driven man, while running Tree Top with his team he routinely worked 100 hour weeks, there was no such thing as a slow day off. LeRoy built his own house in Selah, and when I say built I mean, the walls, plumbing, electrical, roofing – down to the cabinets, he did it all. Upon leaving Tree Top LeRoy and several friends started Cascade Fruit Products which led to International consulting all over the world, China, the Ukraine, Poland, Kazakhstan, India, you name it LeRoy was there. While building a plant for Cran Chile in Lanco, Chile a group of Ocean Spray representatives informed LeRoy he could not get around their patent in making craisins. Do a lot of things, but do not challenge LeRoy’s intelligence- his patent number is 5,747,088. The farm boy from Idaho never left LeRoy, when back at the ranch in Fairfield he would hunt, fish and be at home. LeRoy would help anybody that needed it and did this his entire life. Later in life he would volunteer his time on any project that presented itself, and dive into it with gusto and the can do attitude. LeRoy once said “doing nothing is the hardest thing I ever did.” LeRoy is survived and will be missed by his wife Hideko, brother Melvin and sister Eula. His children Lon, Steven, Pamela, adopted daughter Christina and two step daughters Tomoyo and Nami. He also leaves behind his eight grandchildren and numerous other family members. He will be joining his mother Cleatis, father Worth and sister Barbara. A private memorial will be held at a later date by his family in Fairfield, ID. Any donations have been asked to be sent to LeRoy’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital P.O. Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101-9929, or donor’s choice.
