May 1, 1928 — July 28, 2015

LeRoy “Ted” Biles was born on May 1, 1928 in Yakima, WA and died on July 28, 2015 at home in Selah. Ted had a lot of happy memories riding his bike from S 7th Ave. to his grandparents home in Cottonwood Canyon. After spending the day, his grandmother would load his bike in the Model T and take him home. Ted graduated from Yakima High School and was proud of being an Eagle Scout. Ted served in the Army 95th division, completed his training at the Yakima Firing Center and then was shipped from New York to Germany, and was also on the Army Ski Team. The day Ted was discharged he left to go elk hunting in the Blue Mountains where his dad and friends had camp set up. Ted was one of the first ski instructors at White Pass. Ted was a heavy equipment operator and worked on many roads in WA, OR, ID, and the Alaska pipeline. Ted built the road and completed the terrace seating, with the road grader, at the Gorge Amphitheater. The family moved back to Yakima and then to Selah where the family all helped in building the house where Ted and Shirley currently reside. Ted loved to go camping, roasting hot dogs and plenty of marshmallows. Ted also enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing along with huckleberry picking. Ted is survived by is wife of 60 years, Shirley, and their children, Terry Biles, Judy (Vince) Clark, of Selah, Cyndee Blank, of Astoria, OR, and Becky (Lynn) Roberts, of Fairfield, PA, along with 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00AM, followed by a reception at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima. The private burial will be at West Hills Memorial Park.
