Leonel Lopez

Leonel Lopez 22 of Sunnyside lost his battle against cystic fibrosis on October 3, 2015 with his family by his side. Leonel was born in Prosser WA July 7, 1993 to Rafael and Ramona Lopez. “Coco” was his nickname and he was always smiling even though he was sick and in pain. His love and good heart was always showing through it all. In 2011 he graduated from Sunnyside High School. Because of his sickness he was forced to stay home much of the time but he always found time to be with his friends. Leonel loved to work on his car and helping his dad with his tractor. He fixed everything even at his old job. He loved electronics and setting them up for himself and others. If he wasn’t tinkering with electronics he would be in his room gaming it with his brother and friends. Leonel’s love and beautiful smile will always live with us, always remembered, never forgotten. Leonel is survived by his parents: Rafael and Ramona Lopez, his grandmothers: Ma, Trinida Bautista and Maria Isabel Vazquez, and his brother: Rafael Mendoza. He is also survived by his many Uncles, Aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Viewing and visitation will be held Monday October 12, 2015 and Tuesday, October 13, 2015, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am Wednesday October 14, 2015 at Saint Josephs Catholic Church in Sunnyside followed by graveside services at the Outlook Cemetery in Outlook WA. A reception will follow graveside services at Saint Joseph’s gymnasium in Sunnyside. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside is in care of all arrangements.
