Leonardo Abel “Molio” Lustre Cruz was received by our heavenly father on July 10th, 2014 at the age of 53 at Toppenish Community Hospital. Abel was born on June 1st, 1961 in Ayoquezco, Oaxaca to Martha Cruz and Avelo Lustre. His siblings include Jose Velasco, Felipe Velasco, Sara Jimenez, Aaron Jimenez, Baldomero Lustre, Guillermina Lustre, Herlinda Lustre, Margarita Lustre, Eulalia Lustre and Silvia Lustre.
He was married to Carmen Torres on January 2nd, 1981 in Zimatlan, Oaxaca. Abel worked in Oaxaca as a corn grinder, growing his tobacco farm, as a bricklayer, all while having the illusion to come to the United States for a better future for his family. In 1983 he made his first trip to California picking strawberries in San Martin and Tomatoes in Huron. He worked in farm labor in the states of Arizona, California and Washington. His last job was working for Westward Seafoods in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. In 1988 he brought his wife from Oaxaca to Gilroy, California and in 1990 they established in Washington State. In 1994 they bought their Rancho in Zillah, Washington. Abel was a well-loved man, helpful to anyone he could help, always ready to put a smile on someone’s face.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; his four children, Maria Bailey and Orson, Leonel Lustre and Jessie, Damian Lustre and Olga, Elvira Lustre and Manuel; his seven grandchildren, Jaazaniah, Joviah, Lemuel, Benjamin, Jada, Luke, and Belen. His step-mother, Cesaria Lustre, all his brothers and sister, many nieces and nephews, and many many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Cruz; his father, Avelo Lustre and his father-in-law, Elias Torres.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 12-8pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday July 16, 2014 also at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Burial will follow in the Zillah Cemetery.
