Leona Bowlin

Leona K. Bowlin went to be with her Lord on May 12, 2016. She was born to Philip and Elleta on the family farm May 23. She was a very active member in the school band, marching band, drum majorette, choir member, cheerleader and ballet, 1951 homecoming queen and a member of the National Honor Society. She participated in 4-H in sewing, showing her brown Swiss heifer, and judging. Later she attended the St. Louis Academy of Music for Piano. As an adult she attended Yakima Valley College to enhance her technical skills while working at Yakima County for 23 years, graduating with full colors, receiving an associate degree in computer science with a minor in business. She loved dancing with the Gateswinger’s Square Dance Club, the Yakima Rounders, and line dancing, as well as participating in various community activities and volunteer endeavors, and traveling with the Sage Brush Hoppers RV Club, as well as trips across the States, Europe and Asia. Her earthly affiliation is the Assembly of God Church. Leona was preceded in death by her parents and husband Elmer Bowlin. Surviving family includes three daughters: Shara (Rick), Terri (Bill), and Deanna (Dean); five grandchildren: Jason (Renee), Jeremy (Krystal), Rachael (Frank), Connie (Michael), and Colin; five great-grandchildren: James, Damon, Jeven, Kayla, and Braeden. She loved them all dearly. She is also survived by her best friend David and David’s son Christian, daughter Marya, granddaughter Vanessa and other step children. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Anderson-Fabry disease research. No services will be held per her request.
