Leo O. Dormaier went home to be with the Lord on January 27, 2025. He died at his granddaughter’s home surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Dormaier was born on May 8, 1925, in Yakima, Washington, to John and Katie Dormaier.
He is preceded in death by his parent’s, wife, sister and granddaughter. The family moved to a farm in Olympia, Washington then returned to Yakima. It was there that he married his love, Vivian Blankenship. They were married on February 25, 1944. Shortly after he joined the United States Navy. He was a Seaman First Class and served aboard the USS Munda during WWII.
Leo is survived by his daughter Linda (Jim) Steinloski; granddaughter Keir (Tom) Pellicer; great grandchildren, great great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
Leo Loved to drive. He drove semi-trucks for over 40 years. Winning many awards. In 1985, he won the Washington State deriver of the year and in 1986, he won the two-million-mile safety award from The American Trucking Association. He worked for Easley Hauling Service, Inc.
Leo was a hard worker. He took good care of his family. He and Viv loved to travel the Northwest on his motorcycle. They were also members of Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church He loved his church family.
A memorial service for Leo will be held on February 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church 9 South 8th Ave., Yakima, Washington.
