Leland Shaul

Leland Lodell Shaul, age 92, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Born December 13, 1920 to Daniel Lodell and Edna May (Smith) Shaul, Leland was a lifelong resident of Buena, WA. He was a 1939 graduate of Toppenish High School. He married Bertha (Reimer) in 1942. Bertha passed away in 1959. Leland married Christina Rose (McClure) Ekstrand April 29, 1961 in Buena, WA. Leland retired from Sno-Kist Growers in Sawyer after a 33 year career. He enjoyed simple pleasures, his home and family, fishing, hunting, camping, writing poetry and collecting antiques. He had an extensive collection of antique doorknobs, beer steins and calendars spanning a century. He is survived by his wife, Christina; children Carol Shaul (Dean) Eves of Bothell, WA.; Fredrick (Peggy) Shaul of Buena; Victor (Karen) Shaul of Yakima; Cheryl (Ekstrand) Messick of Yakima; Loyd Michael (Debbie) Ekstrand of Zillah, as well as a niece and nephew, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leland was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kathie (Ekstrand) Morris/Schuler, grandson, David Eves and sister Mildred (Shaul) (Jim) Stouder. Family, friends and others whose lives Leland touched are invited to attend graveside services at the Zillah Cemetery, 10:00 AM, Thursday May 9, 2013 with Pastor Sarah Friedrich officiating. Visitation for Leland is from 4:00-6:00 PM Wednesday, May 8, at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah is entrusted with the arrangements.
