Leland R. Hyatt of Zillah, Washington passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday January 29, 2023, at
the age of 85. He was born November 3, 1937, in Union Gap, Washington, one of twelve children born
to Chester and Jesse Hyatt. Leland attended school in Toppenish, Washington until he went to work for
his father in the land leveling business. Leland then went on to start several businesses in the Lower
Valley, Leland Hyatt Land Leveling in 1959 and Hyatt Vineyards Winery in 1987. Leland passed on his
knowledge and legacy of Earth Moving to his three Sons and Grandson.
Leland and his beloved wife, Lynda of 55 years, had a passion for traveling. They have visited many
places over the years, from Alaska to Australia and everywhere in between. He also enjoyed his favorites
hobbies including boating, camping, snowmobiling, and fishing. Leland always looked forward to playing
cribbage with his brother Bill and nephew Gary Hyatt.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents, first wife JoAnn, eight brothers, two sisters, and three
granddaughters. He is survived by his wife, Lynda of Zillah, WA, one brother William “Bill” Hyatt of Union
Gap, WA, one daughter LeAnn Hyatt (Edie) of Seattle, WA, three sons, Regan Hyatt (Sara) of Stanwood,
WA, Steve Hyatt (Teresa) of Yakima, WA, and Shawn Hyatt (Rhonda) of Zillah, WA, three grandchildren,
Tessa Morse (Justin) of Zillah, WA, Caralee Hyatt (Bryce) of Zillah, WA, Carson Hyatt (Gracie) of Zillah,
WA, Great Grandchildren Kaiden, Bentley, Hunter, Brody and McKinley.
Services will be held at the Zillah Nazarene Church on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 11:00am. Graveside
service and at the Zillah Cemetery and Celebration of Life to follow at the Zillah Nazarene Church.
