Laurine Thompson passed away on April 5, 2016 at Chesterley Court Brookside. She was born April 23, 1920 in Nebraska, and lived in Selah, WA for over 60 years. Laurine was raised in Holdrege, Nebraska and graduated from Holdrege High School before moving to Washington with her parents. She trained to be a secretary and worked for Star Clothing and Yakima Valley Evaporating Company before establishing the Thompson Secretarial Service, working from her office in the Larson Building. She married Ivan Thompson on June 22, 1947. They built their first home in Selah and raised their children there. She loved gardening and time with the family. Laurine was a very active member of Yakima First Baptist Church for over 60 years and served there in various capacities. She has also been active in the Selah Heights Grange and had held several offices, including the office of secretary for many years. She is survived by two children, Janice Thompson Moser of Bothell, WA and Daryl Thompson of Selah, WA. She has three grandchildren, Mary Moser, Alvin Todd Moser and Wendy Thompson. Services will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 12 at Valley Hills Funeral Home with interment to follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Yakima First Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
