Laura Lee Pimms
Laura Lee Pimms, and enrolled member of the Yakama Nation57 and of Granger, Wash. died peacefully surrounded by familyin her home after a courageous and faithful battle against cancer on March 27, 2020.
She was born on August 19, 1962 in Toppenish, Wash. to Oliver B. Sr. and Mary (Wyman) Pimms.
She is a member of the Yakama Nation.
Laura graduated from White Swan High School in 1980. She attended Yakima Valley College and Heritage University’s Early Education Programs.
Laura taught classes for 27 years, where she made numerous lasting friendships – staff and students – at numerous elementary schools in the Yakima Valley.
Laura was an avid Seattle Mariners and Seahawks 12th Fan. She also enjoyed watching family and friends compete in rodeos,scrapbooking, camping in the hills to pick berries and exchange stories around the campfire. She also enjoyed traveling to powwows, the beaches and concerts with her companion, Gerald George. She especially enjoyed and sharing time with her son, Jay Wabaunsee and her nieces Rosa and Hosanna, whom she helped raise in her home. Laura is a past queen of the White Swan All-Indian Rodeo.
Her son, James (Sharday) Wabaunsee, her companion, Gerald George, her sisters, Denise (Elon) Yallup, Bonnie (Ronnie Washines) Pimms and Angela Eneas, her brothers, Oliver Pimms Jr. and Robert (Minnie Jo) Pimms, numerous relatives through the Pimms and Wyman families all survive Laura.
Her parents, Oliver Sr. and Mary Pimms, her sister, Deanna (Pimms) Smartlowit, her numerous relatives through the Pimms and Wyman families, all preceded Laura in death.
Her burial service will take place in the St. Mary’ Catholic Church Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. on March 30.
