L. Alice Groenig Alice Groenig went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 14, 2014. She was 89.
 Alice was born in Odessa, Wa on April 23, 1924 to Henry and Hedwig Pfeif. She moved to Yakima with her parents as a young child. Alice was raised and educated in Yakima graduating from Yakima High School in 1943. She married LeRoy Groenig on August 26, 1942 and anxiously awaited his return from World War II. She was the devoted mother and homemaker of three sons Norman, Robert, and Glenn who will deeply miss her. Alice and LeRoy enjoyed camping with her sister Frances and brother-in-law Bill and other family members. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She remained a Yakima resident for over 86 years and member of Yakima Evangelical Church. In 2012 she moved to Gig Harbor, Wa to be closer to her family. Due to declining health, she moved to Longview, WA where she passed away on March 14, 2014. Alice was preceded in death by LeRoy, her husband of 52 years, a granddaughter Teresa, and her brother Howard. She is survived by her sons Norman Groenig and his wife Ruth of Gig Harbor, Robert Groenig and his wife Karma of Bothell, and Glenn Groenig and his wife Charlotte of Longview; Alice's sister Frances Sampson of Spokane; Grandchildren, Tina, Tammy, Beth, Brian, Kara, Kali, Tara, and Nicole and 18 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held April 5, 2014 (11AM) at the Terrace Heights Memorial Park in the urn garden section.
