Larry Lewis, the very first gypo, has hauled his very last load. Larry, age 81, entered into rest on March 16, 2018 at Astria Hospital. Larry was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. Larry was born on January 1, 1937 in White Swan to Charles and Mary Lewis. Siblings: Vernon, Marion, Frank, Maxine, Henry, all deceased. Larry had one son, Larry Jr. whom pre-deceased him. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Jan of 18, years; Step children, John, Gary Lay, Pam and Darrell Leslie; Brothers, William Lewis Sr. and Gary Lewis of White Swan; Special nephew, Thomas Hernandez (Shannon) and niece, Jeanne (Harry) Smiskin; several other nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; and his special grandsons Dave Lay, Darrell Jr and Gage Leslie. He has many friends in the rodeo sport; he was an avid rodeo fan; especially the National Rodeo events. As a truck driver from a young age he had numerous acquaintances in the trucking industry. Larry very proudly served in the US Marine Corp as a Lance Corporal from 1/15/57 until his honorary discharge on 1/14/1963. He was active with the Yakama Nation Warriors and was always seen wearing his native USMC hat. Funeral services will be at All Tribes Church on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 1:00 PM, with viewing. He will remain there overnight. Procession to St. Mary’s Church in White Swan will take place from All Tribes at 9:00am Tuesday, March 20, 2018 followed by burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in White Swan. Full military honors will be held by the Yakama Warriors.
