Larry Bailes

September 12, 1945 — September 23, 2022

Larry Joe Bailes, 77, of Yakima, passed away peacefully September 23, 2022 at Cottage in the Meadow with his family by his side. Larry was born in Wewoka, Ok to Stephen and Icie Bailes. He grew up in Tacoma, WA, served many years in the Air Force, worked for Social Security, and was transferred to Yakima. Larry then worked for DSHS and retired from YVC. He was a selfless, kind-hearted man that was always eager to help others. He was a Seahawks fan, loved catching salmon, and going to the beach. Larry was a wonderful husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, and he especially loved being called, "Grandpa!" He was even able to see the ultrasound of his great-grandson! He truly loved his family and was always there for any of them. We know he had his faith in Christ and is now with the Lord. Larry is survived by his wife, Janice of 36 years, son Tracy (Renee), granddaughter, Courtney (Brandon), brother, Don (Romane), sisters, Jane (Buddy), and Bonnie, sister-in-law, Pat (Gary) Spencer, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends. Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, twin brother Jerry, mother-in-law Ethel, and brother-in-law, Lowell. The family thanks Dr. Pontarolo, Nurse April, Dr. De La Cruz and Northstar staff, Hospice and especially Nurse Brianna and Cottage in The Meadow's, nurse, Audra. Grandpa always said, " It is what it is!" Larry was greatly loved, and he will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will take place Monday, October 3, 2022, at Valley Hills Funeral Home starting at 3pm.
