Ladine Wesley Albert, 86, died Wednesday, October 16th, 2024 at Astria Toppenish Hospital with her loving family by her side. Ladine was born on March 19th, 1938 in Lyle, WA, to the late Cecil Wesley & Lucille “Lushy” Howard. Ladine loved growing up in Lyle, she reminisced on her youthful days playing in the woods with her dog, climbing the trees, doing everything she could to be considered a “Tom-Boy”. For Ladine’s education, her early youth years were within the Lyle School District, then transferred to Chemawa Indian School in Salem, OR, where she proceeded to graduate in 1956.
Ladine was a busy lady; she did field work in Dalles Port to Gresham, Y.N. Furniture Factory, she was a barmaid throughout the Lower Valley (Harrah, Wapato, Toppenish), & a cook at certain points in her life for the Yakama Nation AAOA, Youth Activities, & Legends Casino. Ladine had a lot of pride in her cooking; she loved canning and drying a lot of traditional foods, making pies, & of course, her famously known Frybread. Ladine's lovely home was the Go-To place for all birthdays & holidays. She loved being a part of Pow-Wows through the committee & judging, making necklaces & rafia baskets, sewing ribbon shirts, playing bingo, being in the mountains picking/digging traditional foods, & of course cruising around town with her Husband!
Ladine is survived by; her sister, Audrey Cloe, her children, Mike Peterson, Fred Logie, & Haver Jim, & numerous nieces, nephews, & grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents (Cecil Wesley & Lucille Howard), siblings (Leona Stahi, Matilda Stahi, Larry Wesley, Sherman Wesley, & Elijah “Shmoo” Wesley), children (George Wesley, Julian Jackson, Elliot Jackson, Adrian Jackson, Ivan Phillips, Joseph Logie, & Ralph Logie), & husband Gibson “Kipp” Albert.
Her arrangements are as follows; October 18th, 2024, Dressing will be at Toppenish Longhouse, followed by overnight services. Burial will be October 19th, 2024, at 1910 Shaker Church Cemetery in White Swan, WA.
