Lacey Jeannette Baker, 23, went to be with Jesus on September 28, 2015. She was welcomed in Heaven by her father, Bruce Baker and daughter Lilee. Lacey was born in Yakima, WA on October 1, 1991 to Bruce and Rhea Baker. She was their first child and the light of their life.
Lacey resided in Yakima the majority of her life, and attended Eisenhower High School, where she became fluent in American Sign Language. She truly enjoyed translating for the hearing impaired. She relocated to Astoria, Oregon in 2011, and Moses Lake in 2014 where she attended Job Corps and earned her diploma and nursing assistant certificate. She thoroughly enjoyed caring for her residents and excelled at what she did. Lacey was her happiest when she was doing for others.
Lacey’s smile brightened any room she walked into, her laugh was contagious and the twinkle in her eye reminded everyone that they were loved. Her voice was authentic, using it to sing beautifully or let you know exactly what she was thinking. She embraced what she believed in and strived to make people feel accepted and loved just as they were. Her heart was passionate and lively for the countless people and things she loved.
Her favorite day was spent cuddling on the couch with her dog Abby, watching Disney movies with her best friend Kaci, or Grey’s Anatomy with her favorite person, Elyse.
Lacey spent many hours reading and loved listening to music. Late night Slurpee runs were her excuse to drive around and sing at the top of her lungs.
Lacey was a throwback of the 90’s with her love for turtles, peace signs, and gel pens.
She had a talent for crafting and gifted her mom and sisters with many pieces of beautiful jewelry. When she was younger she loved learning how to sew and bake with her mom.
Lacey and her grandmother Jeannette (ma’ma) had a very special bond with each other, always reminding her grandma that she was her favorite. Lacey was proud to be her grandmother’s namesake.
Lacey is survived by her mother, Rhea Tait and Stepdad Chris Tait of Yakima, WA; her sisters Lindsey (and husband Nick) Lombardi, of Selah; Lexie and Elyse Baker, both of Yakima, WA; Stepsister Jennifer & Joe Solseng and their daughter Emma of Bainbridge Island, WA, her Stepbrother Sean Tait and his son Finn Tait of Yakima, WA. Her grandparents Hank and Jeannette Ebbelaar of Outlook, WA, and Betty Carney of Yakima, WA as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
We love you Laceyface, and you will be sorely missed.
