Kenneth Radcliff Kennedy

Kenneth (“Ken” or “Cliffy”) Radcliff Kennedy passed away on August 12, 2026, in Yakima, Washington, surrounded by his children.

Born on November 7, 1939, in Toppenish, Washington, Ken was the eldest of three children born to Lester Ellis Kennedy and Selma Leona Kennedy. He grew up in the Valley, attending school in Sunnyside and graduating from Sunnyside High School in 1958. Following high school, Ken proudly served in the United States Navy for four years as an electrician aboard the submarine USS Capitaine.

In 1964, Ken married Marilyn Sherry, and together they raised their four children on the small Kennedy farm in West Valley. Later in life, Ken married Barbara McHargue. Ken and Barb celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary earlier this year. 

Ken was defined by his fierce work ethic, generosity, wisdom, wit, and unique sense of humor. Above all, he loved people unconditionally and without judgment—a gift returned to him in full by the steady stream of dear friends who visited him during his final days.

Aside from his devotion to his family and friends, Ken’s greatest joy was his home and small farm. He spent endless hours cultivating his garden, orchard, and yard. An accomplished craftsman, he had a true passion and talent for woodworking, especially when building and creating alongside his brother, David.

Ken is survived by his siblings, David Kennedy (Sharon) and Judith Greene (Jon); wife, Barbara Kennedy; children, Eric Kennedy (Holly), Les Kennedy (Tina), Rose Valencia (Israel), and Amy Kennedy; step-children, Amy Lee (Mark) and Jason McHargue (Misty); 15 grandchildren; many other relatives and a vast network of friends who became family.

A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at Simply Jesus Church (3902 Summitview Ave, Yakima, WA) on September 12, 2026 beginning at 11:00 am.
