“Win-Ya”
06/25/1997-04/18/2026
Born in Yakima, WA
Keanan Justis Corpuz was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. He graduated from White Swan High School in 2015 and went on to work for the Yakama Nation Forest Development program. From a young age, he loved playing football and basketball, and for a time, he enjoyed pow-wow dancing along with attending medicine dances. He had many close friends whom he considered brothers, forming strong bonds that lasted throughout his life.
He was a loving, caring son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend who brought warmth and humor to those around him. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, working on his trucks, mechanizing, and spending time in the mountains, where he felt most at peace. He also loved to drum and sing along with taking pride in the Washat tradition, embracing and learning the traditional ways of his people.
He cherished time with his family, especially joking and razzing with his siblings, and was always a hard worker, and ready to step up and lend a helping hand whenever he was needed. His kindness, strength, and deep connection to his culture and community will be remembered by all who knew him.
