Katie Berry

Mary Kathryn Dunn-Berry (Katie) was born on October 18, 1944 to Russel and Mary Dunn in Tacoma, WA. Being in the construction industry Mary and Russ moved a lot during Katie’s childhood, after settling in Oroville, CA she graduated high school in 1963 and set off to Seattle, WA. Here she would attend Renon’s Beauty School and live with her favorite Auntie Patricia and Uncle Tyke Riley. After meeting Dick Berry on a successful blind date their aunts set up, these two would soon embark on a lifetime adventure together. After being married in Ballard, WA in 1964 and living in Seattle a short time they would soon end up setting up their family home in Snohomish, WA and raise three daughters, Stephanie, Sarah and Susan. Katie had a career in the beauty industry and retired in 1989. She and Dick would soon move back to the Yakima Valley where she made sure that both sets of she and Dick’s parents were well taken care of and continued to travel and enjoy her grandchildren (Kyle, Averee, Ryan, Paige and Addison). She was always the life the party and knew no stranger. Those that met Katie, loved Katie. We will all miss her and always travel throughout the rest of our lives listening to Katie-isms in our minds. She was generous, kind and optimistic about everything… it’ll always work! Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 4-7 pm with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 30, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Interment will follow in the Zillah Cemetery.
