Obituary

Kathie Susan Bailey Rougk, 82, passed away on June 29, 2026, in Sunnyside, WA. Her family finds comfort knowing she has been reunited with her beloved mother, Katherine Bellairs. Her husband Frederick Rougk, who has missed her so, warmly welcomed her as well, his enduring love transcending his own passing in 2021. Kathie was born August 19, 1943, in Yakima, WA to Katherine Bellairs and Roy Lester Bailey. During her early life, she experienced frequent relocations with her family while her father worked as a tunnel worker.Despite the moves, she consistently found it easy to make friends, a quality that remained constant throughout her life. As a young girl, Kathie was a dreamer, often lost in her imagination. Her daydreams were the promises of endless possibilities and moments of peace in an otherwise chaotic life.

When Kathie was 16, she met the man she would marry, although she didn't know it at the time. Two years passed before they went on their first date and in 1962, they were married in Sunnyside, WA. In 1963, Kathie and Fred were married for time and all eternity in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Thus began their life together, with Kathie being the voice of reason and Fred throwing caution to the wind.

Their married life brimmed with adventures. In their early years together, they farmed, working side by side from dawn until night. While Fred was a thoroughbred horse trainer, they cherished happy moments spent at the racetrack, where their shared love for horses flourished amidst the excitement of the sport. Kathie's faith and resilience largely guided them through their married life. They had three children together: Scarlet, Fritz and Skye.

Kathie loved doing genealogy and spent many years compiling scrapbooks full of family history; even finding her lineage linked to kings and queens. These books will always be cherished. Her heritage included women of great strength, and she exhibited her own true grit when the going got tough. She was never one to be taken advantage of or trodden upon. Although of slight stature, Kathie had the guts of a giant when she needed it and always stood up for what she felt was right.

Kathie has been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since she was a young woman and has remained a woman of great faith. She was always active in the church and served in many capacities within the church throughout her life. It is safe to say she was most fulfilled having the opportunity to serve others. She was a great friend to many, young and old alike. She truly loved each and every one of her friends.

Kathie is survived by her three children Scarlet Francis, Fritz (Llesenia) Rougk, and Skye (Keith) Carver. Stepdaughter Sharon (Jim) Brank; grandchildren Mason, Tyler, Leah, Kannon, Kobin, Kalvin; step- grandchildren Cindy, Julie, and John. Kathie is preceded in death by her husband Frederick Rougk, her mother Katherine Bellairs, her father, Roy Lester Bailey, her brother, Calvin Leroy Bailey, beloved cousin Margie (Robert) Rapp, and numerous aunts.

Kathie wished to extend her heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sunnyside HealthCare Center for the kindness, love and dedication they showed while she was in their care. Their compassion made a significant difference during a difficult time.

Services to honor Kathie will be held at the family church in Sunnyside, WA; The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. All are welcome to attend the Funeral Service on July 11, 2026, at 10:00 am. A graveside service will follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA.
