It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Ellen Pinkham, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and respected member of the Yakama Nation community. Joyce passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love. Born to Earl Wahpat Sr. and Lena Wahpat, Joyce was raised with the values of strength, compassion, and commitment to her family and community. She carried these values throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Lloyd Pinkham, and a loving mother to her daughters Andrea Sapuway (James), HollyAnna Littlebull (Jeff), Yolanda Shock (Lon), and Shyanne Pinkham. Joyce's pride and joy were her grandchildren: Stephanie, Brittany, Lauren, Jacob, Jennifer, Bella, Shauntel, Loren Jr., Adrianna, Eric, Kalula, Richard, Theron, Victoria, Robert, Latonia, Mariah, Leroy III, Lorenzo, Raquel, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Wahpat Sr. and Lena Wahpat, as well as her siblings Earl Wahpat Jr. and Annie Alexander, and her beloved grandchildren Samantha Gomez and Shaniah Pinkham. Their memories lived on in her heart, and she now joins them in peace. For over 31 years, Joyce served the Yakama Nation Tribal Council with unwavering dedication. Her work was a testament to her commitment to her people, advocating for their well-being and ensuring their voices were heard. Joyce was known for her wisdom, strength, and guidance, qualities that will continue to inspire those she worked with and those who were fortunate enough to know her. Joyce Ellen Pinkham’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and the Yakama Nation community. Her kindness, generosity, and spirit will be remembered and honored always. She will be greatly missed, but her memory will remain a source of comfort and strength for all. May she rest in peace.
