Joseph Totus "Wallulatum" was called home by our Creator April 5, 2022.
He was born October 10, 1964, the son of the late Raymond and Helen Totus. Born in
Toppenish WA and raised in Status WA. He attended Granger High School, he was a wrestler,
boxer, football and baseball player. He was hunter, enjoyed being with his brothers and
nephews while hunting. He enjoyed fixing feathers for himself and family members. He
traveled to many pow-wows in his lifetime. He was raised as a fancy dancer and sang with
Eagle Spirit, then in the late 1980's his late Uncle Sammy Colwash presented a drum to the
Totus Brothers and known as "Indian Nation" and Joe was the legendary lead singer. He was
a mentor/leader to his nephews, nieces, and grandchildren of pow-wow singing and our
Wa'shut religion. Everyone who knew Joe, he was a friendly, happy guy, he was quick with
his words. He loved everyone.
He is survived by his brother's: Norman Totus, Frank Totus (Angie), Wilson Totus (Terry),
Rodney Totus, Sugar Ray Totus, John Totus, Verlon Gould (Sherice) and Sonny Frank
Eaglespeaker (Norma). His two sister's Sharon Totus-Smith and Irma Totus and Aunt Iola Totus. His nephews,
Gary Smith, Raymond Smith, Damian Totus, William "Smurf" Totus, Manny Totus and Leon Totus. His niece Mary Lee Totus and numerous grandchildren. All of his pow-wow families throughout Indian Country.
He was predeceased by his
parents Raymond and Helen Totus, brother Steve Morrison, Uncle Lee Totus, Uncle Wilkins Beavert, Elmer Tanawash. Grandmother Mary John-Beavert and Grandpa Harrison John.
Wednesday April 6th, 2022 - 7:00 pm Wa-shut services at family home. Thursday April 7th
2022 dressing - 1:00 pm at Satus Longhouse with overnight services, midnight meal. Friday
April 8th Sunrise Burial - Beavert Cemetery.
